We've created a monster!

I was feeding the fish just now, and it struck me how big our older Bala Shark is getting...i can easily see how they eat fish like danios and tetras just because they look like food at feeding time 😉

He gave one of the smaller danios the shock of it's life when he made a snatch at it 😀

He's only about ~6" now, but i can easily see him hitting a foot plus 😎

Bala Sharks can get 16-18" long, so he's a got aways to go! I was at the Steinhart Aquarium in SF this weekend, and they have a few 16-17" Bala sharks.

Plus they're schooling fish. They're never really happy unless they're in a group of 6 or more.

Six 18" fish. Got room for that 200 gallon tank?

😀

😀 We're moving up in tank size as they grow, 3 foot at the moment (not many fish in it either) as well as the older small one 🙂

We've got two atm and they seem very happy (the big one did seem to appreciate getting a mate to hang out with). Absolutely top notch condition 😎

here's a new pic for ya (taken right now) 😀

Heh, I didn't realize you had one named Cecil. I named one of our black red-tailed sharks Cecil the Dark Knight (the kid insisted that everyone name one of the fish).

Why are there garbanzo beans in your fish tank? 😉

Southwest Pea Gravel 😀

I happen to prefer it to traditional gravels, imo it looks much cooler than the other tank with them in.

oh, i thought this thread was about you pro-creating

That is serioulsy what I thought. I was expecting baby crab pictures.

When i was a kid my dad kept 2 bala sharks. They were about 8-9 inches long and a few years old. I wonder how long it takes to get to 17-18.

He kinda does 😉

He's not of course, actually a freshwater tropical fish iirc.

EDIT: Thailand/borneo is where they are from 🙂
