...in a cave.

What's the coolest thing you ever did in a cave?

I love caving, but it seems that most people are afraid to go. I mean, I've been in some caves where there was a chance of danger, but just like anything else, if you are careful it seems no worse than hiking.

Here's my favorite caving story: A buddy of mine and I found a hole that led to about a 25 foot drop into a lower level of a cave. Naturally, we had this huge jones because we were in a really deep obscure section that we figured nobody else had ever been to. We came back a week later with rapelling gear and made our way down. Ack! Someone had spray-painted their names on the wall, so our "discovery" of the lower level was all a sham. To add insult to injury, we found a gently sloping path back to the upper level. Talk about a couple of guys and their crushed egos...

As a kid me and my buddies always slithered through a local cave (got down to about a foot high passage). Always felt like we accomplished something when we popped out the other exit...

Then fast forward about 15 years in the same cave some fools take their youth group for an expedition...it rains...people died...now its closed. :(

Coolest cave I personally have seen : Carlsbad Caverns, NM
Another (much smaller) but cool one is Devils Icebox in Columbia, MO - you have to pilot a canoe about a 1/4 mile in the cave before you can get out and crawl! Great stuff.
