Yep, no alcohol can be purchased in a dry county (opposite of wet county). I lived in Richardson, TX (near Dallas) for a semester, and it was a dry county. Gas stations didn't sell beer, grocery stores didn't either, but restaurants were allowed to. In surrounding counties, beer could be sold, but anything about 7% alchocol couldn't. But in Dallas, you can sell all types of alcohol.
They had some amazingly huge liquor stores there.
