I walked into my local Fred Meyer today and was admiring their selection of HDTVs when I spotted this deal: The Westinghouse LVM-42w2 42" monitor for $1099.00. I looked around on Fred Meyer's website, but couldn't find anything about this, so YMMV if outside Portland, Oregon or trying to price match (I was at the Fred Meyer at 7555 SW Barbur Blvd; I don't know about other locations, but it seems all local Fred's share the same sales).

Specs:
Full 1080P (1920x1080)
6 HD connectors (1 HDMI, 2 DVI, 1 VGA, 2 Component video, 1 S-video, 1 composite video)
2x10watt speakers + 1 10watt subwoofer
TV tuner sold separately
More specs

Deal runs through 9/1/07. If anyone can find a link to this on Fred Meyer's website, I'll update OP (this is my first "Hot Deal" so I apologize if local promotions aren't allowed).

Pretty good price.

To be taken with a grain of salt, you'll see lots of complains but that's always gonna be the case with these many people buying a product.
I've been lucky with my 42W2, 1yr and still going strong.

It was The display to get last year, but today's display are so much better. It's a lot harder to justify this purchase today.
I was at Frys the other day and saw the Samsung 63" 1080p Plasma... boy... puts my Westy to shame! Of course, the sammy cost 5x more than westy :)

I dunno; I would call this deal *warm*.

I just saw the 42" Westinghouse TX for $1400CDN (prices are a bit inflated here)...plus it's a better screen than the LVM.

I just got the 47" Westinghouse TX for $1800CDN at Best Buy.

I wonder if BB could PM these guys. :light:

Beast, hate to rain on your parade, but lots of TX-series owners at AVSforum would disagree with you.
TX's advantage is only the tuner, while it sports lower contrast ratio and a plethora of issues.

Besides, I haven't used any TV tuner for last 7 years now.
As long as the Cable company box has Component/DVI, then you're good to go.

I dont understand who would WANT a built in tuner on an hdtv (?!?!?!). Waste of electricity.
