Just pick up a WESTINGHOUSE LVM-37W3 HD 37-IN LCD AND I LOVE IT I HAD IT A FEW DAYS NOW AND ALL I CAN SAY IS WOW :Q

I've had the w1 for going on a year now. I'd recommend you look into some means to upconvert the signal for DVD playback, though the AVIVO decoders aren't that bad and much easier to set up. Just with all that computing power, I'm guessing you're looking for something to do with it and you will see a difference (esp with the latest software which allows hardware deinterlacing). You have a great setup for H.264 decoding, it's another good direction to take your system. Calibration took a while on my set up (in fact, still tweaking it almost a year later). Of course, I don't have the AVIA disks or anything aside from THX menus so I guess that's expected. Have you looked for suggested settings on AVS or anywhere (it's a very popular thread on AVS)? Welcome to the world of HD.

Congrats on the monitor. I can't tell in your pic but is it hanging or sitting on top of that speaker? If it's hanging, why didn't you remove the base? Here's mine: Click

Yeah, Westy makes awesome monitors. I had the W1 37" for about 8 months then, sadly, it broke. I know it's an isolated incident though; I don't think Westy has any chronic issues. I just had a dud. But anyway... Best Buy's warranty program saved my hide and scored me a new 42" Westy replacement, for no charge, which arrived just 3 days ago. It's so great, I think I don't need my woman anymore! I have my HD cable hooked up to it, and I was just flabbergasted at the insane quality of picture. Westy rules.

Man, you're rude! 😀
I hoped your woman doesn't see or read this.
Yeah I know the feeling, almost same here I've spent more time with my gear than with my s/o.

Best Buy has the 37" on sale for $1100 I believe; and the 42" for $1800. You can probably find them cheaper if you look around.

Not by much cheaper, at least for now. $1100 is a great price. Only better I've seen is the anniversary sale at Fred Meyer for $999 (one week only). If you can pick it up (or get free delivery like me on my 42") then may as well get it from Best Buy because some places charge a LOT for shipping something big like this, plus if there's anything wrong with it (shipping damage, etc) you can easily get a replacement.

Of course if 37" is too small, if they ever get any more back in stock, you can get a 47" from J&R for about $1900 plus shipping.

How are you guys seeing $1100 from BestBuy? I see $1,499. Even with the 10% they e-mailed to me + selling the free DVD recorder that's ~$1200ish.

LOL how the hell did you strip the screws? They come off with little effort! I'm with m21s, I'd never let you near any of my computer equipment lol.

It is kinda funny but i have a small Eltric. screw driver and i took the 6 small screws off no problems. But i couldn't get the base off so i put the 6 screws back on and must have put them on a little to tight and when i try to take them off again 4 of them came off no problem but the other 2 went bye bye.lol stripped away. But getting back to my question whats a good calabration software to use?

Dude there's only 4 screws you have to remove to get the base off, I wonder which 6 you were messing with? LOL. I didn't calibrate mine, doesn't seem to need it.
