What im trying to figure out is what the difference is between this model ld-4055, and LD-4080.

Looking at their spec sheets they look to be exactly the same...
ld-4050: http://westinghousedigital.com/products/led/32-40/ld4055/
ld-4080: http://westinghousedigital.com/products/led/32-40/ld4080/

anyone know the difference?

Hows the audio on this. I almost bought the Westy 42" newegg had earlier this week but the amazon reviews said the audio was just horrible.

The reviews on Target's website are pretty mixed. People complaining about tinny sound (but meh, built-in sound is never fantastic on a set like this), and, more importantly, many are observing that it's not really 120Hz, but rather it supposedly does some kind of upconverting from 60 to 120 to reduce artifacting and blurring. Probably explains the price. Also, this model doesn't have a memory chip, so it will forget your settings (color, zoom, etc) every time you turn it off. Great price though if those things don't bother you.

That has got to be the stupidest thing I've ever heard. How much money does a small flash-memory chip cost these days? Under $0.50?

That actually made me laugh out load. That is the stupidest thing I've heard in a long time. It can't actually forget everything every time you shut it off can it?

It absolutely can and does. They have several models like this. I agree it's both stupid and amazing in 2012 that they can't add a memory chip, but that's what they do. There are lots of threads all over the internet complaining about it.

Wow, why even bother making a TV like that? Even for a ridiculously low price all it does is lose you future customers. Amazing.

I think they figure the target audience is the typical Walmart luddite (no offense meant, I shop there too) that just wants a nice picture for a low price. In other words, people who have no intention to tweak color or audio or zoom settings, and just want to channel surf with decent picture. But I agree that it's just stupid.

Yup most people don't give a flipping a about all these, they just plug it in and go.

I have an older Westinghouse 32" 720P LCD TV with an integrated DVD player. I think it was over $500 some years ago. Works just great for me, other than it seems to be applying an NTSC-like emulation color blur on the HDMI port signal. The color is not as crisp and clear as an LCD computer monitor. It's not bad though, it's not blurry, like I was running in a res other than native. Someone said something about lack of 4:4:4 chroma sub-sampling, whatever that means.

Edit: At least, it doesn't have over/under-scan problems with HDMI signals, it's a clean edge-to-edge display @ 1366x768.
Oh, and I'm pretty sure it keeps its settings.
