Ok guys, I have honestly read every single thread on AT that I could find regarding the Westy 37w3 and Westy 42w2. I need to hear from you guys (the end users/owners) what the optimal viewing distance is. I'll be using this TV as my primary PC monitor, but also as my primary TV hooked up in my family room. It will be hooked up to an HD cable box from comcast. When I use it for PC I'll be sitting about 5 feet away. TV viewing will be anywhere from 7-11 feet away. With these uses and distances would I be better off purchasing the 37'' or 42"?

Also, what B&M stores carry these models? I can't find them at any of my local BB or CC, and would love to see a $1k purchase in person before buying it.

TIA,

I have the 37"er and i can say that for a fps games 5' is a minimum distance.

Everything else down to 3 is ok. Even at 2-3ft it doesn't look pixelated at all. This is an amazing monitor.

I've owned the 37w3 previously and currently own the 42w2. I love(d) them both very much. Initially I had the 37 in a spare room that I turned into a game room and had it wall-mounted. We sat about 5-6 feet from it and it was ideal.

Later I wanted to move it to the front room but the distance from the wall to the couch was about 7 feet and the 37 seemed too small so I bought a 42" and now THAT's ideal. The only real problem is that when I play PC games on it at 1920x1080, the menu interfaces are too small to be easily read from 7 feet away. A couple games have options to enlarge the menus which makes a lot of difference, but otherwise... I just deal with it.

I bought both of mine at BB, although they're probably more likely to be stocking the 42's at this point. Maybe even 47's.

Thanks for all of the responses. I'm starting to think that I'll go with the 42''. Reason being that for my regular TV viewing from 7-11 feet the 37'' will probably just seem too small, and as long as the 42'' isn't overwhelming for PC use at 5' I should be ok.

Anyone have final thoughts, and/or some pics to share? I appreciate the feedback and will post pics of my rig when it's finally all set up.

If you're going to be 7-11 feet away, definitely go with the 42". Might be too large if you're sitting any closer than 5-6 feet though, so definitely try to put some distance between you and the PC when using it as a monitor.
