Westinghouse 32" LCD $539 pre tax/delivery @ BB

i also got one black friday.

It has the ati xilleon chip in it, which i think has seen some controversy. it froze up on me one time while watch some OTA HD, but other than that, its ok.

it does have composite input (YWR & S-Video), 2xComponent, HDMI, & VGA... no picture in picture though *sniffle*

get this and an upconvert dvd play, and your ready to go.

just waiting for some Wii Component cables...

I also read that you can't watch 4:3 on it, it just stretches the image. Also seems to put out a really bad 480i/p image. It still seams like a good deal but I dunno how hot. Wish it had a few more functions and a few less bugs.

However says it can't watch 4:3 is silly. That's right, silly.

I picked one up on BF and it's a great screen. And you can adjust aspect ratio to not stretch 4:3, of course.

Watch out when feeding in 480i/p inputs. Though the Xilleon wasn't concretely proven to be a source of problems in brands other than Olevia (per the AVSforums right around BF), I still decided to stay far away. Besides, there were plenty of other models using either PixelWorks or the better MTK chipset.

Personally, I didn't need a tuner (no CableCard = t3h useless, other than for OTA HD - already have a tuner in the HTPC) and went with a 32" Olevia 332H from MacMall (~$504 shipped after cashback, UPS shipping rebate and PriceGrabber review rebate). Best of part of all, 100% guaranteed availability - no need to jostle with the campers (though I did manage to snag ticket #5 for the Westinghouse 32" 😀 )
