It seems that when i set my rez at 1280x720 or 1366x768 it goes off the screen. I am using VGA straight through. it only handles 800x600 & 1024x768

Would i be able to obtain 1280x720 if i switched over to DVI-HDMI or Component? Could it be that the tv doesnt allow higher resolutions through the analog pc port? thanks.

double check the rez on that screen. it may be 1024x768, just rectangular pixels.

If its a 32w3 like mine: Menu -> Picture -> Aspect Ratio -> Standard. Think its set to FILL as the default.

same with me, although if you change cables from VGA to DVI to HDMI the picture quality will be even better. I also have a 32w3 or possibly a 32w1, I got mine at bestbuy blackfriday sale.

I tried using the "Standard <-> Fill" button on the remote but I dont think it did anything. Ill check the menu to see if i can change it that way. according to the webpage it IS capable of 1366x768 so i will continue trying this. i'll pick up a dvi-hdmi cable at work on thursday too. i wish i was at home to try this now... bah.

Your display has 1366x768 physical pixels, that isn't the issue.. It's simply underscaning the signal, many TVs do it to avoid showing the junk that often winds up on the edges of poorly edited video. Hopefully your display has options to adjust that out, but if not you can use Powerstrip run a smaller resolution windowed inside a larger resolution so you can see the whole image. This page should help you though the details:

Can I realistically run 1920x1080 using my PC and expect it to look great (not for games)?

VGA to DVI/HDMI will see an improvement. Between DVI/HDMI though, you wont see a difference. They're both high quality digital signals. HDMI is a waste if your source is running optical anyways.
