i just bought this with a best buy gift card for $100. neat little player but cant play most mkv files with sound, you need to convert to AC3.

the new wdtv live is better. wondering if i can return mine without the box....

Amazon has the WDTV Live for $99 right now.

Highly recommended - For a family archive project, I have 70 years of home video (including 16 and 8mm film, VHS, 8mm and DV), 75,000 photos going back 120 years, and dozens of blurays, and dozens of DVDs accessible with a few clicks. All stored on two 1.5TB drives. $120 is a steal. $100 is a gift.

Can you use this in conjunction with WMC ? I have a few extenders around the house and Id love to hook this to the upstairs TV, but I dont want to teach the family yet another interface if I can help it.
