Western Digital RMA question...

So my NEW Raptor 150 has had some "bad sectors" that I've "fixed" but yet files continue to go corrupted. So I'm going to RMA it. 2 questions...
1) How long does it usually take for an Advanced Replacement drive to get here?
2) Am I guaranteed to be shipped a BRAND NEW Raptor and not a refurbed or other?

UPDATE:
I called WD and they confirmed that i would receive a "factory refurbished" HDD in my RMA. It sounds like all RMAs are this way....

Also, they wouldn't let me upgrade my 150 the "X" version because it was "too new". The good news is that my warranty is until 2/2011. This really sucks having 2 WD drives die within a year of each other.

1. It maight be shipped UPS 3 day or ground. Expect 3-5 days.

2. You will get a refurbished drive more than likely

REFURBISHED??? That would really upset me. Bought a $275 drive and it breaks only to have it replaced by a refurbed piece of junk..

Can anyone else confirm or disprove this?

RMA Turn-around Times and Shipping Information

What most people fail to grasp is the simple fact you are sending in a used part, therefore you'll most likely get a refurb in return. I've RMA'ed hundreds of hard drives, and some have a "recertified" label while others do not. The drive/part could be brand new but have a refurb label anyway. If you don't want to take a chance on the refurb part sell it in the FS/T forum and buy a new one.

If they don't have any refurbs, you'll get new.....highly unlikely.

Not only is the drive refurbished, but the sticker on the drive says refurbished in big bold letters. So the resale value goes down, i know i wouldnt buy a refurb drive.

Other than it saying refurbished, it's no different than a brand-new retail drive. It's not like they've been used in someone else's system.

Then exchange it at your place of purchase if it's brand new and defective.

I purchased it at Newegg a few months ago.... While that is not brand new is it very new for a HDD.

Thanks for the help guys. I guess I'll buy me another Raptor and get the old one RMAed. Once the refurbished one comes back I'll sell it on ebay.

This makes sense, but at the same time, you should be pretty annoyed that YOU get the shaft cause THEY screwed up (unless you broke it, but then those "can't" be RMA'd. This would be especially annoying if said part was less than a month old. Either way, you get a working product, but now my bezel looks like ass cause a certain optical company sent me the wrong colour bezel (this model comes with a user detachable bezel with two in the box). Yes, I specifically mentioned black in bold on the form. Oh wait, they did send me a black sticker:|.

There is one good thing about refurbs. They go through a lot more testing before leaving the factory than a retail drive, so you know you're getting a solid item. Only downfall is resale value, but I tend to shy away from buying used drives (or car speakers) used anyway.
