OK, I have a WD600BB 5400RPM 60GB drive that used to run silent but now annoyingly whines quite loudly. I have another identical drive that I bought at the same time and that is still whisper quiet.

Now my Question: Is this whining covered by WD warranty? Has anyone had any experience with this "sound effect" and perhaps know an alternative to quiet the drive down?
 
According to what I have read, the whining will only get worse. I do also believe that most people have had good response off WD about a whining drive. I think that you should be able to get a replacement from WD if it is still under warranty.
