I'm a hardcore gamer, and right now i just have a Seagate Barracuda 160gb at 7,200 RPM. Are the 10,000 RPM drives really worth getting? Also, since they're so small, would it be best just to install Windows onto the Raptor HD and the games that i'll be playing?

wtih teh newer drives coming out, no, their not worth it. the new generation of 7200rpm harddrives with 16mb cache are about tied in performance with the raptor for 3-4 times the storage capacity. but yes, if you were going to get the raptor, install windows, games, and other apps on it for max performance and use the other drive for storage.

thats kind of a premature response, but depending on if you want to spend $190 on a 74gb drive tahts a bit faster then current 7200rpm drives. like i said, newer 7200rpm drives are huge and with 16mb cache, they perform about the same as the raptor, with it beating the raptor in several benchmarks. the only difference you would find in a faster rpm harddrive over current 7200rpm drives would be faster installs and faster game loads.

Links to benchmarks plz. THG had a review on a Maxtor 16MB cache HD and I don't remember the scores being that good.:)
