I RMAed my dead Hard drive over 2 months ago.....I sent it in and got the "we recieved your Hard drive email" ages ago....and never got a new one. I have called them 5, thats FIVE times....and each time they say "there was a problem, and it will ship out in a few days"....this is getting REALLY ridiculous....and I dont know what I can do :mad;

I've RMAed four hard drives from WD and received all of them within two to three weeks. sux2bu.

i have to disagree. had a 80gig 7.2k. it cruches and i sold it. got a near FAR 60gig 7.2k last year. it crunches. now it sits behind my computer collecting dust.

my WD1200JB i got from dell years ago still runs strong. the 8mb cache rocked back then.

I never had a Maxtor drive go bad
All my WD drives died in 6 months.
I've only ever had 1 seagate go dead on me out of 3 seagate drives.

so what do I do now? call and demand to talk to a manager? Perhaps demand an extra 100 gigs for the delay?? (was a 200 gig...demand a 300?)

Lets not get into the normal "my preferred hard drive company is better than yours" war.

I RMA'd two Hitachi SATA drives a couple of weeks ago... their replacements showed up today.

I have purchased about 14 hard drives in my life.

500mb for an old IBM PC back in the day. It was a seagate and still works.
About 8 maxtor drives at various times because i get them cheap thru fatwallet deals. I have lost about 3, each lasted about a year.
4 Western Digital. 1 died in less than a year, others still work.
1 seagate that i still use, it is quiet, speedy, and has a 5 year warranty.

Seconded. I've had the worst luck with Maxtor the company, Maxtor the product, and Maxtor the customer service.

Exactly. Had the replacement HD in 2 days. And no worries about them complaining what packaging is required to send back the defective drive. Just used the one they sent the drive in.

Over 70 WD hard drives installed in the last 2.5 years. Only 2 have gone bad and they both died within 2 days of installation.

I've had decent luck with WD as well... the two that have failed on me were both replaced in about 1 week via advanced exchange & have been working fine ever since... I have switched to Seagate these days though.

I am doing an advance replacement RMA with WD and it is still taking over a week.

Last time they took this long I called customer service and I ended up getting two within a few days.

Actually, Maxtor is easier to deal with in an RMA situation... they ship you the replacement drive immediately, then you use the packaging to return the broken original. Wait time is like 2 business days.
