Western Digital "Green" Drives good to hold video media?

I've been thinking about getting this WD 2TB HDD for around $100:

Seems nice, but are these larger drives reliable? I'd hate to put 300+ movies on there only for em' to fail shortly after as they may (or may not) be good media drives. I've never bought an external enclosure ether so I'm not sure whether or not I should go with it.

Thanks!

i have a 1tb "green" drive that is probably 2-3 years old now. Never had any issues with it and its on 24/7. Not sure how the 2tb compare but i am sure they are similar. Only real option for the "losing data" fear is to raid them.

The new green drives are not supposed to be good in RAID due to sync problems with the standby / sleep sort of features on the drives... and possibly some other issues.

I have sort of a "manual RAID 1" sort of setup going with two EADS and two EARS drives until I feel like I can trust the drives. (one EADS and one EARS with the same data)

I had a 1TB WD Green drive start to get a ton of bad sectors on it... although, that might've been because a Seagate drive above it would get reaaaaally hot during operation. Stupid Seagate fireballs.

I just built a HTPC, and I put a 1TB WD Green drive in it as the primary drive. (Interested in low temps, not going to be gaming on this rig.)

We'll see how it goes, I guess.

run raid1 w/ an external and due a weekly image w/ verification. might take some time, for the image, but that is the best you can do. like OrooOroo says about reliability, you just need to have backups.

If the media is "finalized" then simply use a parity drive for every ten drives or so. disParity is free.

Yeah I have a 2GB WD Green...Yoyo is right about the standby thing. I can't use hibernate for that reason. About 50% of the time when I come out of hibernate, the drive just disappears. I have to reboot to get the drive to show up in Windows.

I have two WD green drives in my htpc. They work well enough and are fairly speedy. I had one fail on me 2 days after getting it, but was able to RMA it.

Don't have any problems with them coming back in hibernate or sleep, however don't try to install programs on them. I've had programs installed on them crash when resuming from sleep.

I have a DNS-323 that supports 2TB drives with the latest firmware....looking for a sub-$100 deal on a 2TB to upgrade mine.

I used a WD10EADS for a year with no problems and recently switched to a WD20EARS with no problems either. The 1TB will be going into an external enclosure for backups. I've used each drive as both the OS and media drive in an effort to save power usage with my HTPC that's on 24/7.
