What is the difference between the black, blue, red, and green drives by WD. Which ones are the fastest, which are the slowest?

He pretty much nailed that one.

I love WD's myself, I'm a FanBoi there, at least for HDD's.

Heh, I have 4 old RE-3s 1TB's in here on a RAID card, and a couple old Raptors on the HTPC in RAID that are getting very long in the tooth.

They've changed things around a bit the new stuff it looks.

Still have Caviar Blacks in a few too.

Reds are for RAID. Might not work for some, but I don't have any.\

Greens and Blues are for slower high storage I believe, the greens for energy saving I'd imagine, but have never used either of those myself I guess so can't offer a valid opinion personally.

I always paint a racing stripe on my HDDs when I buy them, that way they're all the fastest.;)

Black if you want a long warranty, Blue if you don't care about a warranty. Green if you are a tree hugger.
