Western Digital Cavier Se16...

So one of our PC's at work which hasn't been used in a year and a half or so had a 7200 500gb WD Cavier Se16 in it which I took home and formatted to use for game storage in my rig.

I know this particular model is around 4 years old, but the drive itself was only used for a year and a half or so and was never used under any strenuous circumstances.

Will an older drive like this serve perfectly fine as a strictly storage drive for games which I'm not currently playing? Any game I'm currently playing I put on my ssd for best performance obvsiouly. So speed of the drive isn't as much of a concern to me as its life expectancy and reliability.

Am I fine using this drive for a while, or am I better of spending the money on a newer one?

Whats the exact model?
You can use crystaldisk info or comparable program to get the stats on it.

Should be fine for what you intend

I believe the exact model is WD5000AAKS.

I will have to double check when I get home to make sure but I'm 90% sure thats it.
