WOW! I haven't bought a hard drive in over six months, so I had no idea they had gotten so expensive.

Last hdd I bought was $59 for 1.5TB (WD Black)....wish I had bought more now.

Me too. I really want to upgrade to a 2TB WD Black or Samsung Spinpoint, but not at the current prices.

Do you guys recommend a Black for a htpc build? These are louder than spinpoints right? 2TB or 1TB?

I haven't been keeping up but have the newer 1TB+ drives been under $100 at all for the last couple of months? I was reading on slickdeals and someone said they had recently picked up a 1TB for $72.

I have a MC nearby and was thinking about picking up an i3+mb plus a video card with hdmi for htpc + light gaming.

I put 2 blacks in a NAS just last month other than a few clicks I find them inaudible and very very quiet. Likely you won't be able to hear that even inside a case and over the fans, FYI.

Nah I wouldn't get a Black for an HTPC. Spinpoints are definitely quieter.

I disagree on the noise issue.
I'd go Black as they come with a 5 year warranty also!
