why would you want to throw out a hard drive?

this is a pretty good deal although if you look around you might be able to find a better one.

Sam's club has the 100 gb WD for 219 + tax - 100 rebate
 
If you're interested in the Sam's club option, do it soon -- that rebate expires in about a week. It's also incredibly difficult to find the drives. Seems like most part of the country are sold out.

Meanwhile, I have the 80 GB Western Digital in question here. Very solid drive. Very fast, very quiet.
 
Best deal I could find on a name brand 80 gig 7200 rpm drive.
Just hope it gets here quickly cause the rebate must be postmarked 14 days
after 12/27/01
 
Check the mailing address WD 80GB/$50 MIR. I called Outhouse, but they have no answer as to $50, or $75. No NY tax gouging and saves a trip to O'max, in LI.
 
Since the rebate form itself says there's a $75 rebate, I presume that would be the case irrespective of what the address is.
Although it may be a misprinted address. Anyway I've sent a couple of emails to outpost, let's see if they reply.
 
The CSR said buy it as a $50 rebate. They'll have a small staff Monday and they probably wont know until the 26th to 27th. I suggested that I call the rebate fullment center Mon. and he said it's the best idea, or go to O'max. 🙂 The address can be wrong too and void the rebate. Sure there are legal issues with this...
 
Seems someone reposted this and I posted there . . . thanks for the deal. After reading this though I'm wondering whether I made the right move or not since there is a question of the rebate being $50 or $75. Whoever the person is that finds out first, please do post. :frown::|
 
So I called outpost this morning . . . they said the rebate IS FOR $75.00 . . . as to the address, she said there are two separate promotions going on for the same address the "80 GB / $50 MIR" is the 80 GB **OR** the $50 MIR. She didn't know what the "other promotion" was . . . anyways I'm pretty sure they are just using an existing address for the $75 rebate. I mean it's the PO Box that matters, the title can say "Send me my D@MN rebate" if you want it to. :Q

We'll see what happens!
 
I'll call "Youngstown" Mon. Thay had 1,300 in stock Sat., so there's no rush. Probably find the same deal on 100G in a few weeks. 🙂
