Yeah, but I don't think I would wait long. Paper today says Applied Materials is cutting staff again, that will cause the memory prices to go up higher, and I'm sure drives usually follow suit.... We all knew it was too good to last. :(

I am not sure if HD will follow the upward trend of memory prices. The big difference is obsolescence. The last time I heard (from IBM website) was that memory tend to follow the Moore's law which states capacity (or speed) doubles every 18-24 months. In case of HD capacity doubles every 11 months. Those 60GB HD will be as expensive to make as a 120GB in a few months while demand for it will plunged. The result: selling it at a discount.

Since AM makes the equipment to make the chips (IC's), why would their cutting of staff cause memory prices to rise?

This Rebate crap is getting out of control. Have too much money out there already. Must have $200 in rebates coming. This one is at $75...if they don't sent it, things will really suk. Why don't they just take it off the price if the want tocreate a sale......and yes I know the answer. Manufacturers will continue this until we stop buying them.

Dude, Shipped means the final price PAID. Your post says that the price is AFTER a rebate. The two are entirely different. Please adjust your posts to HONESTLY reflect hot deals.

I agree, enough with the rebate mess. It's getting to where I cannot remember if I received one for this item, or was that the other one.... Just take it off the price and make a sale!

Engineer: Obviously, you should know the answer to that question better than I... I should have worded my statement more like this: Paper says AM laying off a bunch of folks, I guess that means the chip makers are hurting bad and we will see even higher prices soon... Maybe they'll have another resin plant fire?

Nice deal . . .

BTW I have over $1000 in rebates out currently (and that is after I got my $300 the other day). I have an excel spreadsheet to manage everything . . .
