Seems like a decent deal on a 3TB drive. Best prices have usually been around $120-130 shipped. This drive includes a PCIe SATA controller. A couple notes about this... it is Advanced Format. Also, reports about incompatibilities with 3TB drives of various brands and SATA controllers so probably a good thing it comes with its own. Also, this is not SATA 6G, like the Hitachi drive. WD "Green" is of course 5400RPM.

As far as being a bargain, yes it is, good find as always.
The $15 Highpoint card is crap, and uses Long LBA, so if you have any UEFI mobo, not needed

As I mentioned and linked in another thread here WDC announced its green drives all have a fatal flaw when transferring large files that will need a frimware update
http://forums.ninjalane.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=2680
WDC bought Hitachi Storage
Seagate bought Samsung HDD
And Seagate just announced the first successful 1TB platter,
which means 3 platter 3TB drives coming (and 4 platter 4TB and 5 platter 5TB)
http://www.guru3d.com/news/seagate-first-to-debut-hdd-with-1tb-platters/

This WDC drive is kinda old school especially with the new AV-GP WDC 3TB drive

All I know is that I've had 2 2TB WD Green drives die while transferring large (over 10GB each) files to them in the last couple weeks.

I replaced them with Hitachi 5K3000 2TB drives and they have no problems. I only bought WD drives until this happened.

That link does not support your accusation.

That's just the well-known "WD Idle" head-park thing. It has nothing to do with issues transferring large files.

Yeah you are right. I am just a stupid ignorant bastard - I freely admit it. I am so ashamed.

But I was born that way, so I really cant help it.

I beg your forgiveness.

Wont ever happen again - will restrict my posts to "looks like good deal"
