Western Digital 120gb special edition problem

hello....

I have 2 years old wd 120gb spcial edtion hd.

I'm using it on my old 566 celery system.. +p *shame Shame...*

it's recenty formatted ntfs and i put the windows xp on it.


It gets lock up when i visit some sites.... It can run couple days with our a problem... but then it suddly makes *clunk.. then a electric boot up sound and then the monitor freeze up..


is this call for rma???

why is this happening??

too much formatting? inadequite psu?? bad drive?? too much porn???

First, I suggest you take this message to the tech support forum because thats where it belongs.

Second, your drive is bad. The clunk you are hearing is likely either a severe head crash or a lovked up spindle motor trying to work itself free. If the drive is two years old then you won;t be RMA'ing it to anyone unless it is still under warranty. Some of the WDSE drives (like the one you have) only came with a 1 year warranty, whereas others came with a 3 year, so call WD and check out whether your still covered. As for getting your data off the disk...... good luck.
