WD 120GB FireWire

the drive keeps vacilitating between instock/out of stock

this is a good deal/get some info post

ive been looking everywhere and i cant find any information/reviews of this drive, or many other firewire drives -- at least nothing recent. does anyone have any experience with these large firewire drives from western digital and maxtor, etc?

a mobile hard drive solution is what im looking into, so i can carry files and stuff becuase i travel a lot. the other option is to buy a regular hard drive and an enclosure, but i figure a dedicated firewire solution would be quicker and possibly safer

dell also has some cheap firewire addin cards for ~$30...also the audigy and the ati radeon aiw 8500dv have firewire ports

Ok this is what I intent to do.

Ordered Dell WD1200JB for 141 shipped
Already bought buslink usb4X2.0pcmcia card- 59 shipped
Going to buy a enclosure for say 80bucks. (if a hot deal comes up with a 20-40enclosure then It would be cheaper, wait and see)

Total comes up to 280 bucks. And lots of weight to go along.
Remember the usb 2.0 is slightly faster, and I also have 3 other ports to connect say a digi cam, wireless adapter, dvd-ram drive or cdrw or even GPS system. Anyway, its up to you since you dont have usb2.0 yet.

I have no ideal what your deal is going to be like after say your coupons but it really depends on how much you can save.

Peace out, hope that I am providing good info.
