Western Beef?

Anyone heard of this place? I'm not sure if it's NY only or not.. I picked up some beef there (filet mignon's, porterhouses and rib steaks) for very good prices.. The meat is USDA certified but not graded (though the rib steaks were supremely marbled) but I wonder about the place in general.. ANY thoughts or experiences?

Prices are good.
I haven't been to one for a while, but at least a couple of them are in some funny neighborhoods.

Yeah, I have to drive to brooklyn from queens (about 10 miles - A big deal in NYC) to get to one.. A very sketchy neighborhood but insanely good prices.. Fillet is $8.49/lb at the grocery store and $5.59 at W.B.. I just wonder about the quality.. I'm eating a lot of meat since I'm on atkins..

Are those the guys that sell steaks out of the trunk of their car?? They try to hustle ya at the gas station..

Metropolitan Ave?
I used to have an account right behind there. I think there are a couple in Queens, depending on where you are.
There are also a couple in Nassau, which might not be closer in miles but may still be a faster trip.

hmm...I gotta check that out. Everyone knows the best meat deals can be found in the ghetto. Back in NO, Wagner's Meat used to be the place to go for cheap, good meat. They had locations in gas stations in some very bad areas of town. The best part was their bumperstickers: "You can't beat Wagner's Meat." 😀

Yep, metropolitan avenue.. The drive wouldn't be so bad if metro wasn't so conjested.. I'm not complaining though - the prices are great.. Just the place feels a little shadey/unclean.. One minor "beef" i have with them is that the prepackaged meat is sliced too thing.. 1/3" porterhouses aren't any fun!
