Hey! I got this usb adapter I bought from Verizon simply cuz I was too lazy to look around o.0 bad decision, cuz now I want to install Ubuntu and I highly doubt it's supported... please tell me Linux has some generic driver cuz even the windows driver is tough to find for this thing (ie there is no download for it, only the original driver works, and it doesn't work in Vista without hacks... pos). So anybody happen to know if there's a solution to my problem??

Or at the very least can you recommend a 802.11g (or draft n 2.0 ;p) usb adapter??

You can get the official Windows driver and connection application from Westel by clicking on the word "Available" from this page.

Unfortunately, it looks like Westel only has drivers for Windows and I wasn't able to locate any Linux drivers elsewhere. Westel support says that you'll need to contact Verizon directly if you need any assistance with the adapter. It might be worthwhile to call Verizon and ask them if they have a driver you can use in Ubuntu.

From one Ubuntu user to another, hope this helps:

I bought one of these wireless adapters at Goodwill today, and, unless it works in Linux and supports master mode, I will return it for store credit, since neither the manufacturer nor the telco supports it.

It I ever see a Westell product in a retail setting, I won't walk away; I'll run.

If anyone has a Windows driver for this device, I hope they'll contact me.
