We have explained why, many times, we allow it to happen. You just don't understand them because you aren't from here.

1) Geography doesn't hinder intelligence.
2) You haven't explained you've just said things like "Who the fuck are you to tell me what to say?!" "I Can say what I want" "Unless it's a threat" "Because we have freedom" "Because we can say it"

No explanation, just the same point repeated.

You're not serious are you? In the other thread, this exact copy in OT, you even quoted someone who explained it to you and said "well i understand but it doesn't make it right"

So seriously you're a moron and I'm starting to see what everyone else was saying when they said you're either a moron or a troll or both.

I'm debating volunteering my services and joining the group to keep these assholes out Thursday, however I am always armed with at least a handgun (regardless of anything like this happening), and would want to show up to something like this with my AR-15 slung over my shoulder.

Though it's completely legal here to do just that, and nothing is stopping me from doing it, I'm concerned that it might be disrespectful or insensitive to those attending the memorial given the circumstances of what happened.

Thoughts?

Noo...... Re read what I posted, someone explained that in the instance of the WBC he prefers that he knows where they are, i.e. they are in public not private.

He didin't explain to me why everyone should have the right to say anything... Sigh... Read.

There is a group in Tucson organizing an "Angel Wings" project intended to entirely shield the family from the Westboro protesters.

Link to CNN story. The Angel Action is mentioned around paragraph 5.

A few years ago some crazy guy got on a bus somewhere in the prairies here in Canada, then went apeshit on this sleeping teenager with a knife. He stabbed him to death, then, after everyone had fled from the bus, he hacked his head off and started eating pieces of him.

They had a funeral for the victim and WBC came up here to protest it. The local biker gangs set up a blockade and the WBC didn't get close.

It's this thing called freedom of speech. I have the right to say whatever I want, you have the right to not listen if you don't like it. If something someone says offends you, you have the right to tell them. This is one of those annoying freedoms that are a natural right to all people, I feel sorry for you that you live in a place that doesn't allow you to freely express yourself.

I Have all the same rights as you do, because I'm not insane or a terrorist. ;) Those people don't have the same rights in your country either (remember Guantanamo bay?)

They have the same right to say what they want, we act on actions, not words. Kind of interesting that NOW the left wants to start limiting violent speech, but where were they during the Bush years? Oh yea, they were here ...

People did not care when they were protesting soldiers. So I guess now you are stuck with them. Good Luck!

This is really all a scam where lawyers try to sue people for hurting the protestors.

I disagree, you act on speech too. Like if someone threatens the life of the president for example.

Sorry what?!

There is a fundamental difference between "speech" and action.

Yes, yes there is.

Yes, yes there is.

Because a threat is taken as a verbal contract to commit action. THREATENING SOMEONE IS NOT ILLEGAL. Threatening VIOLENCE or something illegal is illegal.

Hate speech, that insights violence does the same thing, and is also ILLEGAL!

Then it should not be so difficult to understand why people like the WBC are allowed to express themselves like they do.

THere's a difference between speech and hearing as well, doesn't explain why the WBC are allowed in your country to do what they do.

You honestly can't comprehend freedom of speech can you?

Apparently you're of the mindset that freedom is not inherent and that granting freedoms requires specific justification.

We in America, on the other hand, are of the mindset that freedom is inherent and that restricting it requires specific justification.

Given that difference, there is no explanation I can offer you that fits within your view of how society should be.

He doesn't get it and I keep telling him that. It's been explained to him numerous times, but he just plays stupid or seriously doesn't understand the concepts.

Apparently, they're funded by the Phelps family and the winnings from the lawsuits they file against people who would prevent them from staging or otherwise interfere with their protests, as well as private donations.

http://blog.stanfordreview.org/2010...o-baptist-church-at-stanford-the-law-and-wbc/

In other words: The WBC do this on purpose, with the full intention of pissing people off enough to react. Then the WBC and Phelps family sue, and continue their operations with the settlements.
