Those people have taken the bible and completely twisted it towards their agenda. They are so full of hatred...the antithesis of the teachings of Jesus and the biible they claim to be following.

It is sad, really...I feel sorry for them. But it is just repulsive that they choose forums (ie funerals) such as these in which to protest.

EDIT: For clarity and more appropriate grammar)

so true, I know no baptist organization would allow them to join. These people are SOO far away from anything related to what the Bible teaches its not even funny. I mean I don't know how much more offensive you could be by protesting at funerals, its completely inappropriate. I've never heard of any group being so dumb as to do this.

Evil bastards. If there's a hell, I hope they rot in it for all eternity. They certainly deserve it.

don't worry thats where they'll be going when they die, no question about it.

From CNS.comThe Westboro group says the Amish school girls were "killed by a madman in punishment for Gov. Ed Rendell's blasphemous sins against Westboro Baptist Church.

"Gov. Ed Rendell -- speaking and acting in his official capacity to bind the State of Pennsylvania -- slandered and mocked and ridiculed and condemned Westboro Baptist Church on national Fox TV," the group says on its website.

"Rendell also revealed a conspiracy to employ the State's police powers to destroy WBC in order to silence WBC's Gospel message. Co-conspirators identified by Rendell included state officials, citizens, lawyers, legislators and media," the website says.

Westboro Baptist Church said it is "continuing to pray for even worse punishment upon Pennsylvania."

That just makes me sick!

Well, no other group in the US. I've heard of plenty of bombings at funerals in the Middle East though.

I'd let him walk if I were on the jury.

Fellow jurors, we have the weapon with the accused's fingerprints on it, a motive, multiple witnesses and the accused's confession...I just don't see enough evidence here to convict. NOT GUILTY!!!

Speaking as a Christian, the congregation of Westboro Baptist does not represent us.

In consideration for having WBC's representative on the Mike Gallagher Show from 10 to 11 a.m., Thursday, October 5, WBC has cancelled the Amish school girl picket.

Mike Gallagher should just hang up as soon as they call in. No protest and none of their rhetoric would be a great thing.

THAT WQOULD BE AWESOME.

As long as the funeral is before the interview, I'd definitely do that. Screw them. They are worse than the KKK.

Phelps is neither Christian nor Baptist. Westboro isn't even really a church, people. It's a cult family that meets in the basement of Phelp's house, and make their living through stirring up controversy and staging daily protests.
Read up on Fred Phelps here at wiki. The guy is a real psycho piece of work.

Yup, the best thing to do is not give them any media attention. I am betting a lot of it now has to do with this being their only means to make a living now.
Oh, I'd be VERY happy to give them media attention if they pulled this crap with one of my family members. As a matter of fact, I'm sure it would make headline news.

I hope you mean just those people at that church, and not all Christians.

well if all Arabs and people with brown skin can be profiled as terrorists because of the handful extremist who blow things up, why cant all christians be profiled as gayhaters and people who protest funerals of slain young girls because of those handful extremist baptits?

no, i dont believe that all christians are like that, but I was just making a point...as to what it feels like when the tables are turned

Actually they are already...baptists, jewish, etc are all profiled by others to a certain extent. Unfortunately you have the collective whole of the world nearly becoming anti-'arab' out of fear and ignorance.

I'm a baptist and that "church" does NOT act in a Christian way, more like a cult or a hate group abusing the name of Christ, taking many verses out of context. This "church" is also very tiny - only 70 members, but still.

There will always be groups who say they're Christian but they're really not (i.e. Crusades, Inquisition, Nazi, KKK, etc.). The Bible even says that the "Anti-Christ" will come as "an angel of light", and Satan is known as "the deceiver". What better way to deceive people away from Christianity than to pose as a Christian then do hypocrisy?

Basically, if they don't talk like a Christian, don't walk like a Christian, don't act like a Christian, then they're simply not Christian.

Lol, are you kidding? I'm profiled all the time as a Christian by non-Christians.

I won't read through this thread, there is nothing that I can say that you will believe. Just please, don't judge other Baptist churches by this one. I'm hard core Southern Baptist, and I agree with that post above, I would have to resist the urge to not burn it down.

Only idiots treat all Arabs as if they're terrorists. I think it's deplorable. Sadly, many Christians I know are very vocally anti-Arab/anti-Muslim. Those people are as much an embarrassment to their religion as the Westboro Baptist Church is.

(Edit: whey I say only idiots treat all Arabs as if they're terrorists, I'm not implying that is a small group of people. Sadly we have a lot of idiots and racists in this country. It's unfortunate.)
