The West suspects Iran is seeking a nuclear arsenal while Tehran says its goal is to better power an energy-hungry economy. Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, yesterday backed tough talk by the president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, over their country's determination to carry on with its controversial research.
