My girlfriend and I are looking to take a short vacation next weekend to West Palm Beach. Can anyone recommend me a good hotel with a balcony with an ocean view?

What's that supposed to mean? I'm normally cheap, but right now, for once in my life, I'm willing to shell out real money. When we went to Daytona for a few days the balcony was a very nice thing, and I'd really like to have that again, and I'd be willing to pay quite a bit for it.

Edit: but I won't be stupid and pay more than I have to for it. I might shed my cheapness every now and then but I won't give up being frugal.

go to The Breakers in Palm Beach if you wanna go all out. they have a discount for september but getting an ocean view will be expensive. even if you don't end up staying there, it's a great place to visit while you're in town. everything is absolutely beautiful.

$259 a night... hrmm.... two places I'm looking at now are $209 and $153 ("Palm Beach Shores Resort & Vacation Villas" and "Crowne Plaza Singer Island", respectively). $259 is not entirely out of the question, so I might have to check it out. Thanks.

Anyone else have a recommendation?

I was actually going to suggest the same thing myself... its only a bit more to stay at the Breakers then a standard hotel & really is about the ultimate place to stay in Palm beach.

edit: When you price it out, be sure to get a quote for a "Premium Full Oceanfront Room" otherwise you'll end up with "resort view" ... in other words golf course & palm trees.... btw the rate for one of these rooms with a king bed appears to be $404 per night... partial ocean view is a somwhat more reasonable $297.

I stayed there before...usually the Days Inn is on the lower end of the scale of hotels IMHO but this was a nice place. Right on the beach, plenty of people partying around the pool...had a great time.
