Didn't realize he did Swamp Thing:

Looking over his life's work, I wonder what HE had nightmares about when he slept...

Probably Swamp Thing's reviews...

Wes Craven had some great work (Nightmare on Elm Street, Scream, etc), but he had a bunch of sequels and flops. I think he lost his "magic" years back, but I am still fond of a lot of his works.

He officially scared the shit out of me when I was young watching Nightmare On Elm Street. Now it's just comical.

I saw this earlier. Anyone else hope he went out in some scary nightmarish way?

Not to mention he had a name that was just perfect for the genre. I mean, if you heard about some new, obscure horror movie coming out and had never heard of Wes Craven:

"Hey, who's that new psycho vampire movie that's supposed to be too hardcore to even get a NC-17 rating made by?"

"Some guy named Ronald White."

"Oh, nevermind, sounds lame."

Versus:

"Hey, who's that new psycho vampire movie that's supposed to be too hardcore to even get a NC-17 rating made by?"

"Some guy named Wes Craven."

"F&$^ that S&@*, the movie sounds like it's going to melt my soul."

The only way it could get better is if his name was "Zal'drakthu, Bane of the Light" or something.

RIP.

Just one mention of his name brings tingles to my spine. Most of his movies brought images of some unforeseen horror nearby lurking and waiting to pounce on me.
RIP. :(
