So I currrently have a 512 + 256 stick in my rig...

one is a Corsair and the other is mushkin, the two work with no problems.

Problem-
I pop out the 256mb stick and i get NLTR boot error, pop the 256 back in, and it boots up perfect.

Any ideas on what is causing this issue?

Is the 256MB in the first bank of memory? Perhaps when removed, and when loading data to/from the second stick, there is an error in part of that stick which would not otherwise be accessed during boot when the 256MB stick is in place. Have you tried the 256MB stick alone? In the same slot as the 512? How about trying the 512MB in another system?
