this.

i think i have deep-seeded rage issues.

I have a form of avoidant personality disorder from it. When you have a large group of classmates constantly telling you that everything you do is wrong for over a decade, it's hard to recover.

I remember teasing a particularly chubby kid in grade school who was a year or two behind me. My parents found out and sat me down. Somehow they got me to see the pain I was causing this kid. I felt so bad about it. I realized what it meant about me to be able to hurt this kid for no reason but my own gratification. To this day, ~30 years later, I still remember that. I never bullied again and I never allowed anyone arround me to be bullied. I was always one of the bigger kids so I had to "redirect" a few bullies during high school. It only came to blows a few times, but they all learned that there can be consequences to bad behavior. It is unfortunate that I had to teach them this and that their parents failed in this duty.

this is what I was thinking... I guess I've always been kinda big but still, I don't remember seeing/hearing about anyone get bullied.

I mean, I was pretty bottom rung. I was one of the "gifted" kids who were smarter than everyone else....

I guess I wasn't wimpy looking, and was of a decent size, but I don't really know of anyone being bullied.

Nope. I lived in a small town and my dad was the police. It kept all the kids off my back.

I was nerdy and fell down when the wind blew. Of course I was bullied! It sucked bad back then, but I'm a better person for it.

I wasn't bullied but I did have a kid punch me in the chest in gym one year and broke my sternum. I saw him a couple days ago at Safeway he didn't recognize me. He looks like Carl from ATHF now. Made me chuckle.

When I started 6th grade some 7th or 8th graders made fun of my clothes. I saw one of them a couple years later. He looked like he had dropped out & was homeless. Pretty sure all of them had shit lives after that.

There was a guy in 8th grade that gave me a hard time . The kind of kid that would have two or three others with him and him as the leader doing the initimidating. I never knew how bad his own life was . Later that year there was an announcement in school that he placed a shotgun in his mouth and pulled the trigger. I understood then that maybe he was acting out for a reason.

Yes, until I beat the crap out of one of the bullies in the 6th grade (He had picked on me one time too many). The fight actually took place in our classroom including me throwing him over a table.

When my mother was called by the principle and was told that I had fought this particular student, she said, "Good. It's about time. I hope my son beat him up good."

My mom was the school secretary at the next school over at the time. :)

I was sent home for the day as "sick". The bully was suspended for two days after the principle interviewed other students and learned that I was basically defending myself.

I was not bullied after that.

Never was bullied. I once threw another kid into some bushes once, the first time I met him--i think it was 3rd grade, fall festival at our school.

We soon became long-time friends after that

Someone ATTEMPTED to bully me. Online no less.

I was going into my senior year at HS. A girl two years younger than me and I were kind of hitting things off unexpectedly. This tough guy kid in her grade started IMing me on AOL telling me that I had better not go after her because she was his. This kid barely came in at 5', if that, and threatened to beat me up (athletic, regular sized). When it was clear that didn't intimidate me he began throwing around the names of some of the actual bullies in my school and saying he'd get them to beat me up if I didn't stop because they were his friends. Funnily enough, he never said a thing to me in person and would always seem to quicken his step if we were walking by each other in the hallway.

Of course I forwarded all these convos on to the girl and she cracked up and said she would never have anything to do with that shithead. Nothing ever came of anything though - I never got beat up and me and the girl were good friends for awhile.

To the people who say they never thought bullying was a real thing:
I can only say: Srsly? What are you, deaf, dumb, and blind?
:p

Or home-schooled? Or went to a school that had a total of 20 kids in your age class?

Oh, and "bullying" exists everywhere, outside of school too, even in the workplace. Depends on luck whether you ever witness it, or experience it, I guess.

I had a bully but when I stood my ground one day he acted likeabitch. :)
Others I just classify as persistently annoying pricks. Or as friends. Depends if the dumbass comments go both ways or not. :D

oh and seriously, nobody picked up on my OP? Really?

sigh, look in the news moar.
I simply scanned google/news and saw an intriguing article. And it was offensive.

My school councilor accused my best friend and me of bullying each other. Is that even possible?

Chastised yes, 24/7 but that's all they could do. I had the teachers completely on my side from day 1, and the bullies knew it. (I was something of a tattle tale) If they went after me beyond that their ass was grass. Smart nerd > intelligent nerd.

Nothing besides the regular cup checks, and verbal abuse.... in grade 7 i was bullied to hell with verbal abuse, then I did a punch to the balls... I brought my arm all the way back and punched him in the nuts. He was on the ground for about 10 minutes, it continued... I kept doing it and he left me the fuck alone. :p

Yes. I was also harassed by pretty much the whole school at every school I went to because I was very short and very thin and I didn't fight back.

Quite a few times I was on the edge of just getting guns out of the closet and going to school and killing them. Quite a few... Luckily I had a little control.

Anywaaay... I have self-confidence and self-esteem issues from it, but whatever. Being called ugly all your life and called a bajillion different names doesn't really lead you to every thinking a woman would never want you because of it... or does it.

EDIT: Oh, and I am barely a survivor. I would have killed myself in 7th or 8th grade if I didn't pussy out when I had a pistol in my hand.

Not really. If people bullied me I punched them in the mouth and they picked on people that wouldn't stand up to them.

That's USUALLY the best way to deal with bullies.

I was pretty small in my youth. (I was barely 5'-6" when I enlisted in the USMC)

Being a military brat, we moved a lot when I was a kid. It was normal to have some kid challenge the new kid...especially since I was usually littler than most.
If you back down even once, they own you...so first time, every time, I stood my ground and fought back...and usually won.

Not much "give" in Boomer...I've always had a "drink, fuck, or fight, I'm always ready" sort of attitude. (quite often, one of the first two led to the third) :p

Once in baseball. The team was mostly scrawny 12/13 year olds (like me) except for this one "adult sized' Hispanic kid. He was a tough dude and liked to pick on me. I eventually got fed up with him punched him pretty good in the face. He beat the crap out of me afterward, but luckily he got pulled off me pretty quick so the damage wasn't too bad. He stopped picking on me after that though.
