Were to put thermal probe on 6800GT

My fan controller has 4 seperate thermal probes that will display their temperature on the LCD in the controller. I have 3 out of the 4 placed, but I want to know where the best place to put this probe would be. I have a BFG 6800GT with reference cooler, I tried putting it on the back plate of the card, but it doesnt even touch the core and only gets up to ~40ºC. Where can I put it that will be the most interesting, I dont care if it is on the memory heat sink.

see if you can get it under the black backplate, that would give you the most accurate core temp readings..
