Should be from the cpu core sensor,but asus also has a probe to check for the reading.If it reaches 90C + it will shut down.If you have the ASUS probe monitor installed it is set at 75C I think to warn you.
some tell you NB temp, some tell you mosfets temp (power management), some tell you both.
if the temp gets into the 40s under load its a mosfets temps.
