Why, I cannot say.

Seems to me theres still plenty of life in the first game, especially with all the DLC being sold (its popular).
The recommended requirements are higher, and frankly the last one was quite demanding.

I like Vermintide, best L4D-style fun I've had co-op with friends and my cousin since... well since L4D.

However, as soon as I saw Vermintide I thought that it would be a winning formula if only the setting and skin changed to the WH40K side. But I suppose that's due to my bias towards the WH40K setting. That, or maybe because most games set in the WH40K universe released in the past decade were not exactly the type of game I was hoping for, or they simply ended up being bad.

I love me some Warhammer Fantasy, sure, but for me WH40K is where it's at. I would have loved to have the exact same type of game only with playing as Space Marines, Eldar or even Orcs, against Chaos, Dark Eldar and Orcs, etc (or mix and match those factions together or against each others even if it doesn't make sense lore-wise, just for the heck of the action). Even though I like the first one, now knowing that they decided to just stay with that same setting again then I think I'll pass, at least for now (I might "think" about it whenever it gets on a significant sale much later on). I do like, however, that they're implementing Chaos as a new enemy, that's neat (and way overdue, wanted them in the first one for so long even as a DLC that I would have bought... and it never happened). I'm sure it'll be a very good first entry to the Vermintide franchise for anyone who might have passed on the first one though, that's for sure. Maybe for the sequel later on they'll release another enemy faction DLC (the Undead or maybe the Lizardmen).

Anyway, I wish them the best; all I want is a well-made modern action 3D game set in WH40K dammit... asking for too much apparently. The last decent one dates back to Space Marines and that was it. The rest that followed were failures or mediocre attempts at turn-based top-view RPGs or 'tactical' RTSes in space. The only one I remotely might have some interest in if it ever delivers once completed is Inquisitor Martyr, but not even that one is a proper 3D action game and certainly light years away from being in the veins of Vermintide / L4D gameplay wise.

there is spacehulk deathwing. it's pretty solid now for a $40 game (buy it on sale if you can), but at some point in 2018 there's supposed to be the EE version to coincide with the console release, and that will have much more in the way of class progression/customization.... supposedly.

I think they fixed loot progression, the dice rolls in the first game put me off.

I may look back at this one in the future.

Huge fan of the first one and 2 is even better. This game is super high quality. The map design is amazing. They progress from sort of run of the mill settings leading up to just spectacular designs and content. I caught myself saying wow several times over as I got into the the middle and especially the last few maps. Combat is really good although some of the hero abilities seem better than others. The talent tree serves a little variety for people to explore although again, I feel some of them are weaker choices than others. DX12 mode is top notch. Butter smooth with all settings maxed. I haven't seen any slowdown no matter how hectic it gets on screen.

This is a must buy if you like hack and slash co-op.

Just started playing it last night. Have to say it's pretty fun so far. I skipped the first one based on lackluster reviews.

Just spent a few hours on it. Tons of fun, though I will say it's a bit dark (gamma) in some areas (don't know the names of any places yet). Very good Warhammer feels though, and I dig the elf chick.

I did experience a little graphical glitches (texture flashing, ground, walls, etc) at times, swapping from full screen to borderless seemed to fix it. 1080GTX, 1440p, maxed everything.

I've been playing this a bunch lately (57 hours already), and I've really enjoyed it. It's a super challenging game, and requires similar skills as demanding FPS games. Great graphics, cool characters, and reasonably interesting loot. I've not played another game like it.
