i just sold my desktop and wondering where i can find one of these things for cheap. Im looking to spend about 1200. I will probably upgrade one (put in a gig and 60gig 7200 hdd) so im looking for a good price. Tiger direct has refurb for 899 and i think thats the best retail deal iv found yet. Just asking u cool guys. And hey if u have one i will have a forsale thread in the forsale/trade forum so if u are interested in selling u know where to find me.

Costco has the Gateway series which is just a rebadged Emachines with a lower processor and ultrabrite screen.

wait, did you say you're gonna spend 1200 on the upgrades alone? that's crazy. just get a thinkpad and be happy.

Now put on your thinking cap and see if you can figure out what he meant. His upgrades were a gig of RAM (which is $80 as it already comes with 512MB) and a 60G 7200RPM drive (I think the only option is Hitachi's $145 drive). That's $225. The laptop at TigerDirect is $900. That gives him about $75 left to play with. He obviously didn't mean he was going to spend $1200 on upgrades alone; that is practically impossible.

You can also check the sale forum here. There aren't a ton being sold but there are a few. I just sold mine a few weeks ago. Great laptops, btw. Sorry to see mine go but I had no need for two lappys.
