I have been trying to find the upgrade for the Windvd that came with my Creative 12x DVD and can't find one. The only i can find is on Intervideo's site and they want 50$. Creative doesnt have anything on they're site either.

Hi,

If I'm understanding your situation correctly, I think you just need to register at the InterVideo site. Then you'll have access to the download area to get your update. I believe updates for registered users are free (up to version 2.3). But they're introducing a new functionality (forget its name) with the next version, so that upgrade will probably not be free.

Regards,
Jim

PS: i also have another problem, when watching dvd sometimes cursor would get messed up and when i got look at my video props my computer would hang. Anyone have this problem before?

Drop InterVideo an email. They'll get back to you fairly quickly, if my own experience is anything by which one can judge. Tell them how you got your original version of WinDVD and ask them how to get your activation key. I think you just log on with your User ID and Password, then go to a page where you can download the activation key. (This online process has to be done each time the thing is re-installed because the activation key won't work again.)

Sorry, but I've never seen any glitches with the software. What operating system are you running, how much RAM and how much free hard drive space do you have, and what speed is your processor?

Jim

Ok, il drop them a e-mail later. My system is:

AMD Tbird 750
128mb pc100
13gig WD hdd (split into two; 3gig for my windows drive, has 2 gigs free. 10gig for my drive with all my programs, that has 3.5gig left.)
Leadtek Geforce2 MX
Creative 12x PC-DVD
SB! PCI 512

From that i should be just fine in the area of RAM and hdd space. I actualy think its just a driver issue, but if anyone has any ideas that be great.

Yup, for sure your hardware ought to be up to the job! I didn't see anything in there about the OS. I run W2K Pro on a PIII 500 notebook with a 6X DVD drive. It performs flawlessly. But I've seen more powerful systems that had troubles playing DVDs, and (as you've surmised) those were always due to decoder software or driver issues. (I've found drivers to be a real bugaboo in W2K, but the road is really smooth once you get them sorted out.)

Hope you get the system performing to your expectations.

Regards,
Jim

LOL yhea i just noticed that. Dont know what could have caused that. Anyways, i seem to have fixed all my problems. I found someplace that had the patch for 2.2 to 2.3 and that also seemed to fix my cursor problem (well as far as i know could still be a driver problem) Thanks for your help.

Fan-danged-tastic! Very happy to hear this! So I guess the 2.3 update may be as important to Win98 users as it is for W2K users.

Yhea it is nice, one thing that seems weird though, is that i had to set Directshow Navigation on (used a program called DVDGenie) cause on some of my DVD the screen would be shaky without it on. However everything is working great now except with the Directshow Nav on i cant Zoom in or take capture of the screen. Guess i can live without those.
