I figured that they would get these out quick, but I haven't seen much of them yet. The only one I have actually looked at is the HP model. Who else has them now, and who will be getting them and when?

I believe Compaq was the first--AMD debuted the chip with the Compaq...I think you have to order it through their website.

AMD just recently announced/released the chip. DELL and other Intel only firms will not be releasing any Athlon 4 notebooks, unless AMD can break them. Other notebook manufacturers that will release them; HP, Compaq, etc.. probably have them available for order, but retail channels will probably reflect the demand that is out there for semiconductors... that being at a sloooow pace. I'd like to open a Sunday ad for CC or BBUY and see pages full of Athlon 4 laptops, but that's wishful thinking.

as far as I know, Compaq, NEC, Fujitsu, Sony, HP, and maybe some other smaller firms carry AMD based laptops... not sure if they all carry Athlon 4 or Duron but still... thats a pretty nice chunk of the market. If only Toshiba would get on board...

not necessarily, since those manufacturers also carry p3, with sony also offering transmeta.

your right Tuff, I was just stating that they have a lot of market leaders already in their camp... not that they already own a lot of market share... far from that ;)

if its a palomino on a laptop for only $1550, then i wouldnt count much on the graphics, or anything else for that matter. I'm seeing duron 800's (sony) on SALE for that much.

the compaq and hp laptops both use the crap trident cybladexp chipset with shared memory. it makes them a ton slower, like the 1ghz athlon hp, benches about the same as some p3-850 laptops. the sony duron 800 uses an 8mb rage mobility which is better, but its been out a while, and uses the original mobile duron, which doesnt have allthe power save stuff that the athlon4s, and the new durons have. they might have changed the chip, but when it first came out it was using the much higher power older duron.
