Here is my configuration:
I have one comp directly connected to the internet via the modem (Westell Versalink 327 W)

Another desktop 15 feet away in another room is connected to the net via a wireless usb adapter (Netgear Wg111)

When wep is enabled my wireless speed is so slow that it takes at least 7 minutes to acquire the ip address. Am i doing something wrong. Do i need to open a port? Why is it soooo slow.
 
you typed the wrong key would be my guess


I have tested with both WPA and WEP, and on any modern equipment, there is no visible slowdown. I would guess you typed the wrong WEP key, and are getting a "169." auto IP
