What a great place. Kills the San Diego Zoo and pretty much any other zoo I've ever been to. I've lived in San Diego for 8+ years now and I've never been there before today. Our neighbors gave us two free passes (they are season ticket holders) and we had to pay $14 for our son's admission. We only spent about 3 hours there this afternoon and we did the tram ride tour which is free and well worth the short wait.
The park is laid out so that the animals can roam free. Obviously, they keep the predators separated from the prey but it is unlike any other place like this I've visited. Most of the zoos I've visited I actually feel bad for the animals in captivity there but here they can roam free.
Sucks that there are so many species so close to extinction. I got a couple pics of a species of rhino of which there are only 10 known remaining on the face of the planet. They will be gone in the next 50 years...
