I think the CLS550 was in the close to 400 HP/TQ range and sticker was in the lower 60s. Lotta car for the money. The only thing was the lack of comfort in the rear seats - they were buckets with not much leg room. Pretty good sized trunk though. But it was one sexy looking car.

I don't know if you have heard of it but he brought home a McClarin once too. That is nearly 800hp. That one was even faster. The thing was a v12. I literally crapped myself when I saw the gas gauge moving down when accelerating haha.

Wanted to look around. Salesman asked what I was looking for - "most power you've got".
Enter the CLS63 AMG. Sweet, sweet ride. 500 hp, 465 lb 6.2 liter V-8.
Then we have the god awful sexy SL55 AMG. 490 hp, 516 lb, 5.4 liter supercharged V-8. Sick
I just asked on the SL55 - what's the top speed? "Goverened at 186". After some chit chat he asked if I'd like to drive one...
OMG!!!!!!!!! I'm in love with both of these. The feel of both cars is race-track worthy with ridiculous amounts of power. Smooth rides with little chassis roll and a comfortable combination of sports car and creature comforts. Putting the pedal down on either of these is a gut wrenching action hoping you actually have enough rubber to keep them down.
Mercedes is putting out some bodacious cars and living up to their heritage IMHO. Just like the beloved Ms from BMW, whatever AMG does - it works.

Maybe I'm old & cheap, maybe I just don't make enough. I can't ever see spending this much money on a car. Ever. They're the worst 'investment' ever. I had a hard time spending $30 on my current car USED.
Don't get me wrong - cars like this (not that I've driven an AMG) are great rides. I just don't see $10k+ a year in depreciation being a good decision for anyone.

My dad bought a 2006 E55 earlier this year.... holy jizm is it nice! A friend of a friend of a friend (lol) has a 2001 viper and we went out to an airport (no longer in use) and went toe to toe. I pulled on him each time (granted he had a hard time off the line)... i also pitted it against my R6 (streetbike) and was only able to beat it off the line till 50MPH, then it ruined me.
Those AMGs are no joke. Too bad my dad got pissed about me roasting the tires and wont let me drive it anymore haha.

the Price Tags on them is pretty sweet also 😛
EDIT: Sweet for the dealership and the Manufacturer 😉
I kept bringing up my Favorite Car. The M5. Salesguy started talking about Motor Trend or some other car mage actually picking an AMG over the M5.
Either way, these things are the perfect blend of sport and comfort. Something that as I get older I appreciate. Even the non-AMG CLS55 was very nice.
Unfortunately my girl fell in love with the ML500. In the middle of all this glory all she could think of was "look, it's got fold down seats!" 🙁

You mean the salesmen talk to you when you go in there?
They dont even look in my general direction. 😛
that is because you have a CS degree and not the super-duper awesome IS degree which will open all doors for you, even in fields such as medicine and welding. I also heard from spidey07 that an IS degree will allow you to skip to the front of the line at Disney World, and a private meeting with Mickey!!!

It depends what you drive in... from my experience I don't get any attention when i park kinda far and just walk in, but when I pull my with my CLK right in front of the show room, they practively apporach me. 🙂

In my experience they don't give you the time of day if you don't obviously have money. I had to go pick up a car that my father bought from the local MB dealer since he was out of town (replacing a 1987 Saab 900 turbo :Q ) and I had the worst time getting anyone to help until I finally found the salesman who sold him the car.
