Went to Mavericks surf contest this morning

Snapped away pictures from 7 am to 9. Then the sun got high, the lighting started to suck, and I went to work.

Awesome waves. Too bad you couldn't see jack unless you had some good binoculars with you. Damn media occupied all the sweet spots on the cliffs. I didn't care much though, since the longest lens I have is 70-300, and it's obviously not enough.

But at least I got to mingle with the surf dudes 🙂

It?s on again! On just 24 hours? notice - between January 1, and March 31, 2006 - 24 of the world?s greatest big-wave surfers will descend upon the frigid waters of Half Moon Bay for the chance to ride "the most dangerous waves in the world."

i wish i could get out to see one of these....saw a body surfing competiton in san diego one time and it was fun watching guys crash into the rocks and be dragged out of the serf 😀

Waves were freaking huge, but once you got on a wall - you could just ride it and ride it...
These guys are pretty down to earth - no superstar egos or anything. Just chilling.
