Went to BMW's North America HQ today

First time I've been there, pretty neat. 1.5 hour tour, I could only take pics of the main center, wouldn't allow you in the 'factory'

It was really neat, the robotic arms that assembled parts of the BMW's was amazing, how quick and accurate they were. The assembly line had like 3 people hop inside the X5's installing different parts, overall it was very interesting.

Too much to explain, but here are some pics of some cars in the lobby
Sorry, they are with my cell phone but are not too bad

Sweet, thanks for sharing. IIRC, only Honda is more sophisticated in the overall production procedure used.

I'm trying to convince myself to go to the BMW Roadster Homecoming over Labor Day at their US HQ. It's the last one in the US and there is only space for 500.

You definitely should. Should be beautiful down here this time of the year and there are a lot of fun places to drive up in the mtns only 30-45 mins away. Stay in Greenville...preferrably downtown if you do.

We would probably stay at the hotel everyone else is staying at. They are offering all kinds of stuff, including free car wash bays. 😛

Ah gotcha...well make sure to make a run through downtown Greenville...there is a great little baseball stadium downtown that's fun to watch a game and get a few relatively cheap beers at and the downtown is nice to walk through with lots of galleries, shops, and places to eat/drink. If you end up heading down this way, let me know and I can recommend some stuff.
