Went to a Toughman competition last night

Wow, there was a lot of class there, and all of it was LOW! 😀 There were almost as many fights in the stands as there were in the ring -- seriously! When we finally left, there were about 10 cops standing outside, and I'm fairly certain at least one of the people thrown out by security was arrested for disorderly conduct (he fought the security guys on the way out, and a huge crowd jumped out of the stands to watch the progress toward the exit).

Including the guy who works for me (who won), there were probably three others that actually knew how to box, and the rest were just flailers and windmillers, which is always fun to watch. No one was knocked unconscious though there were several knockouts and a few TKOs. Best fight was the one that almost happened between the wives of two fighters -- quite funny to watch the one girl go absolutely ballistic and have to be restrained by some guy.

One poor guy exhausted himself so badly, admittedly he was in very bad shape to begin with, that he couldn't even get off the stool for the third round (fights were three rounds of one minute each). He stumbled out of the ring, got examined by the doctor and just sat there for a few minutes with a glazed look on his face. Later, someone was taken away in an ambulance from where the fighters were hanging out, and I wouldn't be surprised to find out it was that guy.

Ring girls ran the gamut from one dark haired stunner with an incredible set of legs to a cottage cheese leggy blonde with VERY obviously implants. As a friend of mine said, nearly every one has their "tramp stamp" tattoo on the lower back (except for the brunette I mentioned).

All in all, a good evening! Anyone else seen any Toughman events? Share your stories!

I love watching the TM contests - it's great to see the average joes up there slugging it out. The celebrity ones were kinda funny too, like when the Fridge got pissed that someone poured water on his head in the corner, and then tried to blame the loss on that. Yeah, the water was the problem fridge. Not that you're 350+ or anything.

Yes, it was made very obvious that conditioning is the key to success as much as knowing technique. In the absence of technique, being able to swing effectively after the first round is a huge advantage. You don't even have to know how to hit -- just how to duck!

I went to a toughman contest when i was younger with my old man and a friend at Cobo in Detroit. This is not something u want to take your kid too. I don't really remember any fights, just that everybody was bad. I do remember the ring girls with the very large implants. I think the fights in the stands were better then the real ones. The guys sitting behind us were yellin expletives like crazy. I don't really remember much i was 12 at the time.

Yes, definitely NOT a family friendly place!
