So I just got a Ruger 10/22 rifle for plinking targets on the range. It's a pretty cool little gun, I decided on it after several recommendations from members. This was my first time shooting in like 8 years, I forgot how much fun it is. (OK, i didn't shoot my eye out, it hit me in the shoulder, see below :) )

Here's the gun. She's all stock for now, but i'll get getting some mods for it. First one on order is a scope :)

So here's the gun

Plain view of the range

Heres one with my target about 30 yrds out

And the swivel targets 50 yards out

I put about 15 rounds at the metal targets and one of the shots bounced back and hit me!!

It even drew blood!!

The gun shoots very well. Its a little awkward shooting with only one arm, but I was able to be pretty consistent regardless. (I was in an accident and lost the use of my left arm)

Here's the first group

2nd group

3rd group

4th and 5th - Standing up with no support

Last group on the colored target where I could actually tell where the shots were hitting

Overall I think i did pretty well. The gun is great, but I did have a couple of jams in the 200 rnds I fired off. The seems pretty frequent, but not too awful for a .22 rimfire.

I have a 10/22 also and modded it a little bit.

Pic

TapcoT6 stock
Volquartsen mag release
Volquartsen hammer
Volquartsen auto bolt release
Weaponkraft bolt buffer
NCSTAR flash hider/muzzle brake
Tasco Worldclass 3-9x40 scope
"The Razor" sling
3 Eagle 30 rd. mags

If you want to do any internal mods, like any of the VQ stuff mentioned, get yourself a tap kit. Some people say their pins fall right out, but some of mine wouldn't fall out for nothing short of tapping them out.

Also check out rimfirecentral.com. tons of people there and a whole section devoted to 10/22s. Some of those people have done some amazing mods to their 10/22s.

I went to a SASS (Single Action Shooting Society) shoot once to see what it was like and I got hit by a pistol round that bounce off a metal target. Hit me in chest. Didn't do any damage to me though.

Gorgeous. About how much cash have you put into it overall (included the original purchase price)?

The loss of use of your left arm didn't involve shooting a gun 8 years ago, did it? :)

When I got back from fishing today, I did some shooting myself. On another forum, we are having a competition between all of us who own Glock 19's, but I took it a step further. I did a tour of Europe shooting thing - Shot my Glock, Sig 229, and HK USP45 with the same targets.

Everyone is using the same targets, set at 15 yards.

The handguns

The Target

The groups

Glock 19 groups are upper left, HK USP45 groups are bottom, and Sig 229 are upper right.

All shooting is done standing and offhand. Not terrible, but I should have done better. Oh well.

How much is breaking the bank for you.

Mueller APV is damn nice for the money. You can get them for 115 from mizzoumuleguns.com. Nice and clear, focuses down to 10 yards.

Have you joined rimfirecentral.com forums yet?

$465 for everything including the 10/22 itself.

Mine is tame compared to what some other people have though. The stock, scope, and hammer kit were the most expensive pieces after the rifle itself.

Just look at these. Some people even modify ar-15 and other rifle parts to work with the 10/22.
