OMG!
I just left the store and I am outside for maybe 20 seconds and I see a guy yelling and twisting a woman's arm. She's screaming and is trying to hold on to her stroller that has her baby in it. The kid is screaming. Customers and store staff go running to see what's going on.
By this time he has her in a choke hold and her face is turning bright red. She is still trying to scream and he is yelling for her to come with him. She breaks free and screams she doesn't want to go with him.
At that point a woman calls 911 and within 2 mins 3 cruisers have them surrounded. Store security staff prevented them from leaving the parking lot until police arrived.
Bastard is looking at several felony charges. In case it matters they appeared to be in their early to mid twenties.
While I am a big guy, I decided not to intervene in this instance. Doing so would have gotten me a possible assault charge. I would have had no problem dropping that guy.
I once saw a man hit his wife in the face, so I intervened and the woman had a go at me! And told me to mind my own business... Wow.
Some people choose to be victims. It's sad, but there's no point in wasting your time on them.
You shouldn't get an assault charge. It is defense of an innocent. You could even say you felt threatened by him and decided to defend yourself.
hahahaCat fight, she instantly assessed you as being a woman. You just have to interpret things correctly neckbeard.
there were about 15 people already getting involved.
The problem is this day and age you can even get sued for helping a person get out of a car that has crashed and at risk of catching fire as the supreme court has said.
I already posted, in my state it would be a good shoot in defense of a 3rd party. The kidnapping/rape aspect makes is automatic.
which case was that?
The case was spawned by a botched rescue attempt by Lisa Torti, who pulled a friend, Alexandra Van Horn, out of a wrecked car in the Los Angeles area on Halloween night of 2003. Torti claimed she saw smoke and thought the car was about to explode.
Van Horn was left a paraplegic, and blamed Torti's efforts to help her. She sued Torti and Anthony Watson, the driver of the wrecked car, for negligence.
attempted kidnapping or unlawful confinement.
he also faces automatic jail time for the assault. He will have to post bail in 24hrs.

Attempted kidnapping or possible rape, choking/threat of severe bodily injury or death plus witnesses.
Yep, good shoot in defense of 3rd party.
I know, it was just difficult to tell from before I intervened.
There was a story not too long ago where a woman was pulled from a burning car by two guys. When it was found out 3 years later that she may have been trying to commit suicide, the two guys sued her.
with her screaming "I don't want to go with him!" while holding her in a choke hold and dragging her to his car is considered forcible confinement. Just simply keeping someone in one spot preventing them from going about their business (for whatever reason) is unlawful confinement here unless done by security officers or police.Based on your recount of the story those charges are flimsy at best.

Even shop owners are not allowed to do this in cases of theft or assault.

never heard of that. Seems like American football players would have dozens of charges after every game. Sack the quarterback? Unlawful confinement. Block the linebacker? Unlawful confinement. stupid laws are stupid.
LOL.
I've never heard of punching someone in the face being considered assault either. wut is up with boxing amirite?
EDIT: Google ftw.
