Went golfing for the first time

On a 9-hole par three course. It was 45 degrees with a 20 mile per hour wind. I went with a friend who hadn't golfed in a while but had golfed quite a few times in the past. I had a bit of trouble getting the clubs under the ball at first, and was hitting them to the left as well. Still, after making a phil-like 30 foot putt from the fringe on the 5th hole, I was even at 39 strokes going into the 8th hole. But after my putting wedge skills failed me for a triple bogey, I was two behind heading into the 9th. If I could only ace it or birdie it, I thought. A bit of beginner's luck, hopefully, I could win the round.

But it wasn't to be. My sandwedge shot off the tee towards the pin 68 yards away fell short, into a huge bunker protecting the entire front of the green. It took me four tries to get out of the bunker and I ending up shooting a seven.

Oh well. Golf is a fun game. Addicting. Can't wait to go out again and get revenge.

I certainly can't wait to get back out. I probably should go hit the driving range in a week or two to get ready for another great year! :)

I just started last Summer.

That's pretty good for a first try. Keep on the short par 3s for fun for sure. If you played on a big course you'd just frustrate the hell out of yourself. I started off on the big courses cause I get the golf for free (work on grounds on some nice private ones around here), and I didn't enjoy it much until I practiced a lot more on the par 3s around my place. I still suck :p

Yeah, I plan to keep playing at this particular par three for a while before going to anything larger. It's 1100 yards total with the longest being a 185 yard hole with water surrounding the green. Challenging for a complete noob, and it's only $5 to play all day during the weekdays.
