Amazing! My 5 NMB Ultra Quiet Fans arrived today from SVC. I took apart my PC and installed a new 2400+ along with these 5 new fans (they replaced 3 generic quad-LEDs and a standard Chieftec case fan). When I first powered my PC on, I could NOT believe the difference in sound. Combine these fans w/ the Sapphire 9700 Pro Ultimate Edition I got on Tuesday, and my machine is now SILENT.

The best part? My CPU temps are fantastic! I've reached 50C only once after stressing it out.

$11 for those 5 fans...an amazing deal. This news is certainly not new and it's been beaten to death, but I am simply amazed at the difference in sound and the performance (so far) of these fans.

Now, time to overclock the 2400+!

18CFM... No wonder they're quiet. ;)

But then, I suppose if you've got five of them it doesn't matter.

Glad to hear it. I bought 6 of those but haven't installed them yet. My case isn't that loud, but I'm going for complete silence...:D

Well, I messed with the FSB settings and got it up to 145 and that pushed my temps to around 49C idle (2.195 GHz, 2600+ speeds). SO, I'm leaving everything @ stock. Which is fine as, like I said earlier, my PC is so, so quiet now.

Besides, at stock I get a 12,929 3DMark01 score, so that's just fine. And, more importantly, everything runs like a dream.

Installed the fans tonight and they are indeed very quiet. One of them was DOA, so I'll have to return it.....

Now all I hear is that damn turbo sounding fan on my 9500 Pro. Thinking of getting a Zalman ZM80A-HP passive cooler for that. Is anyone using this cooler? How hard is it to remove the stock HSF from my FIC 9500 Pro?

I have a Zalman on my 9700 Pro...but it came factory installed. Sorry, no help w/ the install question...BUT I'm glad to hear the fans are working for ya so far. If you do the Zalman install, let me know how it goes. I've been curious about how hard/easy it is.

They are 18cfm fans @ 18dB. With 3 intake and 3 exhaust they provide plenty of airflow with no audible noise.

The airflow is minimal on these fans. The noise is similair to a panaflo 'Ll1a, but the L1a's push more air. They also cost around 4 times as much. I use the NMB's a lot. Cheapest way to quiet down a system without using a rheobus.
About removing a stock GPU cooler...
The HSF's are usually securely attached to the core. On everyone I've replaced I've had to apply a lot of force to pry them off.
Try wedging something under the HSF to pry it off as well.

Don't pry! It's really easy to remove a GPU hs, almost no effort at all. First, put the card in a zip lock bag, seal, and let it chill in the freezer for 30 mins. When the time is up, remove it from the bag, place a credit card between the hs and the card, and then place a flathead screwdriver inbetween the hs and the cc. Quick twist, and off pops the hs. Sometimes you have to get all the sides of the hs, but twisting requires almost no effort and no chance of slipping and stabbing your card.

Thanks for the tip, OulOat.

I have always been leary of removing the HS on a GPU so I've never tried it. Could result in a very expensive mistake...
;)

I think I'll try that Zalman cooler. I'm not really interested in O/C'ing so it should be fine on my 9500Pro and I'll have a nice quiet box.
