Went for a ride in a CLS 63 AMG this weekend

So through a friend of a friend I got to "cruise" around in a fully loaded factory loaner CLS 63 with the performance package.

First off, does anyone have about $120K they aren't using?

What a truly amazing car. Violently fast, yet smooth as silk. Even at absurdly high speeds, it never feels the least bit unstable. It also has enough buttons and gadgets to keep the geek in me busy or hours.

The other thing that really stands out are the carbon ceramic brakes, I've never felt a car stop like that. Extremely powerful and again completely stable.

Sadly I didn't have a chance to get behind the wheel but I did up my personal top speed on 4 wheels as a passenger.

It was dark out so I didn't really get any good pics other than the badges on the back and a very blurry shot of the night vision mode on the LCD screen.

What the heck did he turn in to get that as a loaner?

His company was doing work for Mercedes and Mercedes gave them the car for the weekend. It had manufacturer plates on it. It wasn't like a loaner you get when you take your car in for service.

i got passed by one of those last nite. sounds great. it was white with black hood/ roof and bright red calipers showing through the rims. guy driving it must have been watching a bollywood movie at top volume tho, horrible music. and he drove like a douche, cutting off people and seeming to rev the engine just to hear it.

I love the CLS - the first-gen one was the first genuinely pretty Mercedes I can remember for many years. Nice to see such a staid company doing something different. One of my clients has a CLS 63 and it's a beautiful car.
