I've got an E6300 arriving today, and just ordered a Gigabyte GA-965p-S3 and one stick of G.Skill DDR2-800. I'm hoping this will be a significant upgrade from my current AMD 64 3500/1gb ddr333, especially when paired with my highly OCed 7900GS :D

Anybody think this mobo and ram combo will overclock good?

Why only one stick of RAM? I'm sure your system would perform better with the RAM in pairs for dual-channel.....

Congrats on a nice combo and YES it should overclock nicely.

You will, as the other guys pointed out, want to add another stick of RAM at some point but you have a very good starting point.

I'll add another GB stick in a couple months, maybe. I just can't afford $250 ram all at once.

A motherboard with 4 RAM slots and a PAIR of 512's right now would have been a better choice.

Other than that, it will be very nice.

I don't agree.
OP, good choice on a single 1 GB dimm.

A day is coming when we're all going to be using 4 GB ;)

You & i both know that.

Getting 2x512 MB = bad idea for future upgrading.

The loss of performance is very minimal, & completely unnoticeable, often even in benches.
I have first hand experience with that on my C2D system.
